Goliath is the dominant older brother who, once in their childhood, was outshone by his clever, heroic little brother David. Ever since, Goliath has had to live with the myth, the shame and their mother’s favoring of David.
Time has come for revenge.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Maria Tryti Vennerød is a leading Scandinavian playwright. Since her debut with the play Meir at the Norwegian Drama Festival in 2002, she has written a number of contemporary plays, musicals and stage poetry that have been translated into more than ten languages and produced in even more countries. Vennerød has received many awards, amongst them the Ibsen Prize for Dama I Luka in 2005. Vennerød has always worked closely with Det Norske Teatret. She contributed to the major productions of Bibelen (The Bible) in 2014 and Andre Verdskrigen (The Second World War) in 2016. In 2017, she had her third production on the main stage with her musical Snøkvit (Snow White). In 2014-2016, she was resident writer at Dramatikkens Hus. At present, she is a member of the Bergman Studio at Dramaten. Goliat is Vennerød’s latest play, written for the Vega Scene in Oslo and due to open in December 2018. The musical Jostedalsyrpa will open in Førde in autumn 2019.
