ABOUT THE PLAY
Manning Is Free is about a person who insists on speaking the truth no matter the price. It tells the story of the trans woman, Chelsea Manning, and how she became who she is today; the secrets, struggle and rebirth of the whistleblower who leaked a record number of classified documents about American military and diplomacy. It is a story about realizing your true self and changing the world in the process.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Educated at The Danish National School of Performing Arts 2004, Anders had is acting debut in 2004 in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Folketeatret. He has starred in several Danish plays in Copenhagen, including IRL – In Real Life at Corona La Balance and Fattisch at Bådteatret, both of which were nominated for a Reumert award. Anders has been a member of the Mungo Park ensemble since 2012, producing and performing 13 plays, including Boys Don’t Cry based on the movie of the same name, which won the Reumert in ’14. Mungo Park performs plays in Allerød, in Copenhagen and tours all of Denmark, as well as Norway, Germany, The Netherlands and the UK. Manning Is Free is Anders’ debut as a playwright. Vega Scene’s version of the play will premiere in Norway in June 2019. The performance earned Anders the prize of Leading Male Part of the Season in July 2018 according to Cph Culture.
